Shattered Love : Heart - Rending Love Story (Betrayal Series Book 1) Page 3

  I smile. “I’d love a drink.”

He lifts a glass filled with water and ice. I use the straw to take a greedy gulp.

“Baby, slow down. Just sip it or you’ll you be sick again.”

I slow down, already feeling my stomach turning. “You’ve been here all night?”

Dom looks at me as if I’ve grown another head. His eyebrow raise into his hairline. “Yes, where else would I be?”

I reach for his hand. “Thank you for loving me.”

He leans down, placing a hard kiss to my forehead. “I was born to love you.”

I fall asleep to Dominic playing with my hair. Even when I feel completely shitty with the flu, he still makes me feel like the most treasured thing.

Three days later, I’m still ill. The fever has finally broken, and Dominic has stopped jumping at my every move. Cecelia called a few times making sure I was okay and even dropped some soup off. Today, I finally convince him to go to work and he agrees after calling Carter to ask Molly to check on me.

There’s a knock at the door. As I open it, I find Molly on the other side, smirking.

  I roll my eyes. “Don’t!”

She bursts out laughing. “He called Carter at five this morning to check when I was coming and he’s called me three times already.”

“You would think I was the first, and only, person to ever get sick.”

She laughs. “How did he convince you? I know you well enough that you would have hated him taking time off to babysit you.”

I plop on the sofa. “He used our wedding vows.”

  Molly eyebrows rise. “He what?”

I smirk. “Pretty sneaky, actually. He repeated our wedding vows, saying he made a vow to care for me.”

Her eyes glaze over. “Wow.” She places loads of bridal magazines on the table. I hadn’t even noticed she was carrying them, this means your ass is on lockdown. I thought I would bring the mountain to Mohammed.”

  I’m completely confused. “What?”

Molly laughs again. Her laugh is like wind chimes. “The saying? If Mohammed won't go to the mountain, then you bring the mountain to Mohammed.”

  I am still completely confused.

Rolling her eyes. “Okay, I need help with flowers. Did you know there are over 150 different types of roses? How am I supposed to know which ones I want?”

Her voice has risen to an unrecognizable decibel. I’m sure only dogs and cats can hear her. I bite my cheek to stop laughing.

I grab the first book, flicking through the pages. “Right. First, what color?”

She pouts and shrugs. “I don’t know.” A smile takes over her face as her phone dings. “Carter?”

  I wiggle my eyebrows.

Her eyes widen and she nods, shoving her phone in her bag. “So will you help me with all this?” She gestures to all the magazines.

I frown down at the page. She really does need help and she’s finally asked for it. I jump up, getting my notebook and pen. “Okay, we need coffee. Lots of strong coffee.”

  “Is it really that bad?”

I nod but hold my hand up. “It’s okay. We’ll sort it out, alright?”

Molly takes a deep breath, nodding.

Finally, after hours, we’ve got everything written down. Molly is going for a pink, navy and gold color scheme, which will look beautiful. She will have a large, pink and white bouquet with diamonds, and the bridesmaid, her sister Sienna, will have a small, pink bouquet. The silk, navy tablecloths will hang to the floor, and there will be gold charger plates at each setting. Gold candelabras will sit in the middle of each table, with soft cream flowers twisting around each one and petals scattered around. The seating menu will be placed on a large gold mirror with everybody’s name in calligraphy writing.

She stands up just as Dominic and Carter walk through the door.

Dominic’s eyes dart all over my body, looking for something wrong, but Molly shakes

  her head in amusement.

  “Avery is fine, Dominic.”

He flicks his eyes to her. “She’s sick! I don’t like not taking care of her”

Rolling her eyes. “You took care of her, Dom, when she needed you the most. She’s just a little weak now, but Avery is fine.”

He rubs his hand over his head. “Yeah, thank you for today. I know how stubborn my wife can be.”

I smile sweetly as if I don’t know what he’s talking about, and Dominic smirks, shaking his head.

“Oh! I had a big plan for Saturday, but as you were ill, I…umm…I mean…” Molly looks nervous. She can’t stop moving her hands.

Carter kisses her hair, whispering in her ear.

A smile lights up her face as she nods. “You’re my bridesmaid. I’m not taking no for an answer!” She races for the door, calling out her goodbye with Carter laughing behind her.

My eyes widen before filling with tears which fall down my cheeks. I’m pulled tightly

into a hard chest, his smell invading me. It reminds me of the grass just after the rain.

“Baby.” His voice sounds pained, like my tears are actually physically hurting him.

Tilting my head back, I try to blink back the tears. “I’ve never been someone’s bridesmaid before. These are happy tears.”

Using his thumb to catch my tear. He bends, kissing my eyelids. “I don’t care. Happy or sad, you should never cry, baby. It kills me, even knowing it’s because you’re happy.”

We order takeout, but with the first mouthful, my stomach turns. I try to breathe

through my nose but it’s useless. I jump up, racing to the toilet.

The door swings open as I crouch over the toilet seat. “You’re still sick.” A cold chill in his voice.

I wipe my mouth placing the tissue in the bin. “No, it was the Chinese.”

He snorts behind me. “Chinese is your favorite.” He leans against the door, his eyebrows raised in an expectant glower.

I grab my toothbrush. “It’s probably just too much too soon.”

Before he can open his mouth, I turn around to hug him around his waist.

“I know you're trying to distract me, beautiful,” he whispers close to my face, his hands running up and down my back. “And don’t tempt me because I will devour you even if you’re sick.”

  “Oh yeah?” I grin.

His finger find the nape of my neck.

I rub my hand over his hardness, causing his head to fall back. “Baby...”

I squeeze his dick. “I’m fine, apart from my want for my husband. No one seems to know how to cure this maddening desire…”

Green eyes meet mine. “Turn around and put your hands on the sink.”

My breathing picks up his voice dark, dangerous. I turn around, grabbing the sink.

He moves my long hair over my shoulder, nipping the exposed area before kissing his way up my neck. “You drive me crazy, beautiful girl.” Growling before biting harder, causing me to moan. “I’m supposed to look after you.”

I gasp, closing my eyes as my stomach quivers. “You did. You do. I need you, Dom.”

He pulls my flimsy pants down.

  I arch my back instantly.

“Don’t move.” There’s a quick slap. The sting mixed with the pleasure heightens every sensation. He starts to knead it, spreading my cheeks and no doubt seeing the evidence of exactly how much I need him.

Thick arms wrap around my waist, holding me tightly against his hard body. “Baby, you’re so wet, so beautiful.” His husky voice next to my ear sends a shiver down my spine.

The sound of his zipper coming undone makes my legs clench and my stomach quiver. Rubbing his dick in between my legs, moving it through my wetness. I push back, trying to get more of him. He slides in just an inch.

He pulls out slowly before giving me another inch.

My body is curled tight. “Please,” falls from my lips as a curse and plea in one. “Dominic!” I scream as he rams fully into me. Already at the edge, he stops, holding hi
mself fully inside of me before slowly pulling out to repeat the same movement.

Grabbing my hair, making my body bow to his command. In this position, I’m able to take him even deeper. “Look at me!”

Cupping my chin and turns my face toward the mirror. The image steels my breath. His strong powerful body leaning over mine, the way his hips buck relentlessly, his eyes are dark with longing.

I look so small compared to his powerful frame, my skin light to his sun-kissed, but my eyes are darker, none of the sapphire blue visible. Instead, they are the color of midnight, hooded from arousal. My cheeks are flushed, my lips swollen from his kisses

His nostrils flare as he watches me watch us. His hand travels down my stomach, sliding through my wetness and finding that bundle of nerves. He starting a circular motion, pulling a moan from my lips. His thrusts pick up from my reaction; I push back into him, wanting him right alongside me, feeling the same pleasure that’s coursing through my body.

He leans down, biting my shoulder, the pain mixed with the unadulterated pleasure I’m already feeling causes the most intense orgasm to break through my body splintering me into a thousand pieces.

His name leaves my lips as the pleasure attacks like currents of electricity pulsing through my body.

A low dark growls escapes from deep in his throat as his thrusts become more out of sync. I can’t take my eyes off the sight of him as he squeezes my hips, his head falls back and pure, raw pleasure takes over his face as he growls my name.

I feel someone move my hair out of my face and sweet kisses cover my skin. I look up to see Dominic staring down at me.

  “Hey, beautiful.”

I stretch my body like a cat which is incredibly sore in the most delicious way. I turn and snuggle into his chest. “Hey, handsome.”

He pulls me tighter like he can’t bear any space between us.

I fall asleep to the sound of his beating heart.

  Avery

The room is full of people rushing about, and Molly looks like she’s going be sick. She hasn’t stop pacing, typing away at her phone for the last hour, every time the door opens she jumps like she expecting the devil himself to come and get her. She normally so sure of herself I’ve never seen her so jumpy.

“Hey, you okay? It’s your wedding day. You should be relaxing.”

She lets out a deep breath. “It’s just so overwhelming. In a couple of hours, I’m going to be Mr. Darren Carter.”

Grabbing her hand giving her a reassuring squeeze, smiling. “I’ve got a pair of tennis shoes ready.”

Molly actually looks like she considering it making my stomach drop, before she bursts out laughing, the tension leaving her body. The door opens as her sister Sienna walks into the room. She’s beautiful, not as beautiful as Molly. Where Molly is a natural beauty with her dark hair and dark eyes her button nose feature all petite like a fairy, where sienna features are harsher, but she knows she’s pretty, and I’ve got a feeling Sienna and Molly are not the closest. In fact, Sienna seems to be a bitch. She’s smiling like the cat that got the cream.

“Molly, you never told me that Darren’s best man looked like a badass, Greek God. I mean, damn, that man is hot.” she applies red lipstick smacking her lips together before pouting them in the mirror.

Molly and my eyes widen when the girl tries pulling her boobs higher.

I smirk when I realize she’s talking about Dominic. Molly blushes as if she embarrassed by her sister. “Umm, Sienna, that’s Dominic.”

Sienna’s eyes sparkle like she’s just learned the winning lottery numbers. “That’s so hot. I’ll be screaming it later.”

I choke on my champagne that the hotel brought up for us. Did she really just use that line?

Molly’s eyebrow draw in, her hands going to her hips. “No, you won’t, because Dominic is Avery’s husband.”

Sienna snorts, crossing her arms over her chest. “Who’s this Avery? Because I think you’re lying. You can’t tie men like that down.”

I smile sweetly, holding out my hand. “Avery Stone, Dominic’s wife.”

Sienna’s eyes widen. Her eyes rake down my body, scrutinizing every inch of me.

Her slides her eyes to Molly, who seems to be giving her some sort of warning. Sienna rolls her eyes before sauntering off.

  “I’m so sorry.”

I wave my hand, fastening the diamond tennis bracelet Dominic gave me for our last wedding anniversary. “It’s fine. Honestly, you should have seen the girls in school. As soon as they realized we were dating, it was like a free for all. I’m fine.”

Molly’s eyes widen in disbelief. “How can you be so calm? If that was Carter, I would have slapped her.”

I laugh. I don’t think Molly would hurt a fly. “It honestly doesn’t bother me. I know Dominic has that look that women want, Now, if she touches him, all bets are off.”

She smirks, taking a step back. “You can be scary when you want, with that creepy smile. Don’t do that again—ever.”

I bite my cheek from laughing when Sienna sways her hips, trying to get Dominic’s attention as she walks ahead of me down the aisle.

His eyes go over her shoulder to me as I start to walk down the aisle. I blow him a kiss and wink at Carter, causing him to laugh.

The music changes and Molly walks down the aisle. Every pair of eyes are on her. She’s the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen. The princess dress suits her petite features perfectly. A smile lights up her whole face, eyes never leaving Carter.

I look over to Dominic who’s already watching me. They say silence can be the loudest words, and I agree, because even though not a single word is spoken between us, the silent words of love find us. We both jump a little as our private world is broken by everyone’s cheers, turning just in time to see Carter dip Molly in a show-stopping kiss as they’re pronounced husband and wife.

Carter picks up Molly, causing everyone to laugh as he races her down the aisle.

“Baby, you look so fucking beautiful.”

I turn toward Dominic. His eyes take me in as if I’m the meal he’s been starving for. I love the navy, mermaid-style dresses Molly picked for us. Mine was perfect for my curvaceous body. By the way he takes me in, I can tell he loves it just as much. He leans down, kissing me quickly with a promise of what’s to come later.

The day is beautiful. Molly’s speech had nearly every guest in tears.

Most of the guests start to go home, leaving only a few of us behind. Molly is dancing with Carter, completely unaware of anyone around them. The looks in their eyes is solely focused on each other with secret whispers passing between them. I grab my phone, capturing the moment.

A flash of Sienna catches my attention, she’s been hanging on the single men all night. The last man made a sharp exit as soon as she went to the bathroom. I watch as she walks over to the bar, her eyes set on something. That’s when I realize that something is my husband.

I watch as she presses against his side. His eyes briefly turn toward her, before he continues talking to Mac, another police officer in their department.

I haven’t seen Mac a lot as he’s new, from the south. He had that deep, low southern drawl. It was easy to see why the women all gave him a second look. His raven hair was kept longer and curled around his ears. His eyes are a sweet, dark chocolate and he carried a smile just as endearing.

Carter and Dominic have said he’s good, though. He’s going to be Dominic’s partner while Carter and Molly are on their honeymoon.

Sienna joins them, twirling her straw around, trying to look sexy. She laughs too loudly at something Mac says, brushing her hair over her shoulder. She strokes her fingers down Dominic’s arm and I watch as his eyes pull into a frown at her touch.

  That’s it!

I can take her looking at my man, but touching him when she knows he’s married? That deserves a bitch slap.

I walk toward them and hear Carter whisper “shit” behind me.

  “Look at the si
ze of your arms! Wow, Dominic, you must work out all the time.” Sienna’s high voice penetrates me like nails on a chalk board.

I clench my jaw tightly as I step into their circle. “Take your hands off my husband.”

His eyes jump to mine, but I ignore him, narrowing my eyes at Sienna as a sly smirk stretches across her face.

“He doesn’t seem to mind, do you, Dominic?” The way she says his name, as if trying to purr, makes her words sound more slurred.

I cross my hands over my chest clicking my tongue, nodding slowly, “That right?” I look at Dominic, who looks at me with amusement. “You want her hands on you? You enjoy her touching you?”

The amusement falls from his eyes, narrowing as his jaw pops, he doesn’t take his off mine as he shakes his head. While pulling his arm away from Sienna, he grabs my waist flush against his body. He studies me before his lips lift slightly. “You’re jealous.” He smirks, the bastard.

“Would you be okay with Mac touching me?” I shoot back at him, not taking me eyes off him. Instantly, his face transforms. His features are dark. His fingers twitch on my waist.

He growls low.“Don’t test me, Avery.” His tone is ice cold.

I lean in. “Then don’t let her put her hands on what’s mine, Dominic.” Out of the corner of my eye, I see Mac auguring with Sienna as he tries to pull her away. Poor Mac.

Dominic’s lips land on mine hard, punishing. I don’t kiss back. He moves his head back, narrowing his eyes before capturing my face in his hands. Biting my lip, causing me to gasp and allowing his tongue entry. The kiss slows as he tangles his tongue with mine. It’s slow, sensual and lazy.

I feel his lips leave me and moan at the loss of contact. My eyes finally flutter open. Everyone's eyes are on us, their mouths wide open. Everyone except Dominic, who’s wearing a smug look from the effect of his kiss. His eyes stay on mine as he sucks in a sharp breath before grabbing my hand and pulling me through the crowd.

We get to the room, ripping each other’s clothes off in a mad frenzy, as if we need each other to survive. Grabbing my waist, he pulls me on top of him, so I’m straddling him. My nipples harden instantly. His tongue pokes out, gliding from my ear down my neck, then across my collarbone. I grip onto his shoulders before his tongue circles my nipples, making my back arch to offer him more.
